PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner of which the dust collecting performance is increased by easily generating minus ions by an extremely simple mechanism, and efficiently diffusing them on a surface to be cleaned. SOLUTION: This vacuum cleaner is equipped with an opening part 24 which sucks in dust and dirt, a cleaning body 29 which is provided in a manner to face to the opening part 24, and a driving source 27 which drives the cleaning body 29. When the cleaning body 29 is driven on the surface to be cleaned by the driving source 27, minus ions are generated by the friction of the cleaning body 29 and the surface to be cleaned with each other. The surface to be cleaned is directly in contact with the cleaning body, and therefore, the minus ions can be efficiently adsorbed by dust and dirt on the surface to be cleaned. In addition, dust and dirt on the surface to be cleaned can be efficiently collected by the scraping up force of the cleaning body. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
