PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To image not only a single color as each color of CMYK of a printer, but also each component color of RGB which express an original image, by color plates of as small a number as possible. SOLUTION: The color image formation apparatus which has color printers 5 and 8 capable of forming images on paper by each color material of CMYK; and an image processing device 4 for converting inputted RGB data to CMYK data for color plates addressed to the color materials and outputting the data to the printers is equipped with an ACS determination 2 for determining on the basis of the inputted RGB data whether or not each color of CMYK of the color materials and each color of RGB of inputted color components are present in the image expressed by the inputted RGB data, a color plate determination 3 for determining color plates of a necessary minimum to express determined colors, and a controller 6 for making the printers 5 and 8 image by only the determined color plates. The apparatus further includes an image memory 7 or 9 for storing the CMYK data for color plates or the inputted RGB data. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
