PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the load in a small-sized electronic device by solving the problems that the sound source built in the small-sized electronic device is sometimes little in the number of sound productions (the number of channels), and extraordinary loading is liable to act on the device in reproducing such contents which exceed the number of sound productions if an SMF (Standard MIDI File) is subjected to a DVA (Dynamic Voice Allocation). SOLUTION: The performance information processing method has a process (SP100) of setting the number of sound productions for setting the maximum number of sound productions of the electronic device for reproducing the performance information constituted by a plurality of events, a process (ST130) of detecting truncate events for detecting the truncate events to be truncated from the events in compliance with the prescribed rule when the number of the events relating to the musical tones produced at the same time exceeds the maximum number of sound productions, and conversion processes (SP135 and SP140) of converting the performance information according the the truncate events in such a manner that the number of the musical tones produced at the same time attains the maximum number of sound productions or below.
