METHOD FOR REDUCING NUMBER OF PINS OF IGNITION COIL INTEGRATED WITH DRIVER AND IONIZATION DETECTION CIRCUIT BY MULTIPLEXING IONIZATION SIGNAL AND COIL CHARGE CURRENT FEEDBACK SIGNAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost and to facilitate the packaging of a coil by multiplexing the ionization signal and the driver current feedback signal in one signal in an internal combustion engine.

SOLUTION: The multiplexing signal firstly outputs the ionization detection signal, and outputs the charge current feedback signal if the charge command VINis realized. In other word, the multiplexing feedback signal outputs the ionization feedback signal, and switched into the charge current feedback signal if the charge command VINis activated. In another embodiment, two package pins are omitted by multiplying the ignition driver gate signal, the ignition coil charge current feedback signal and the ionization signal.
