<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically select and reproduce optimal audio data without making a user perform troublesome audio switching such as selecting audio data matching the reproducing apparatus by confirming the disk package etc. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with an operation part 15 for allowing the user to set the system constitution of a speaker 22; and an audio stream selecting processing part 104 for selecting a proper number of channels of the audio data according to the set speaker constitution information. According to the speaker constitution information set by the user, a reproduction control part 101 selectively controls the proper number of channels of audio data to be reproduced selectively.
