<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxygen ion conductor as a solid electrolyte material to manifest oxygen ion conductivity of 10<SP>-4</SP>to 10<SP>-3</SP>S/cm in a comparatively low temperature region ranging from room temperature to temperatures exceeding 100 °C. <P>SOLUTION: This oxygen ion conductor has a structure wherein a super basic compound to adsorb and diffuse oxygen ions are dispersed in its skeletal material or is carried by the skeletal material. The super basic compound is a composed of an alkaline metal or an oxide containing an alkaline earth metal and salt, and its basic strength function value of Hammett is 20 or more. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
