PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inverter for a hybrid automobile, etc. that requires a switching frequency of several dozen kHz, in which a malfunction of an arm switch is prevented for a sufficiently high ON-drive voltage, with heating of a drive circuit suppressed. SOLUTION: A high-voltage side drive circuit 23u comprises a high-voltage side negative bias circuit connected in parallel to a high-voltage side arm switch 21u, while a low-voltage side drive circuit 24u comprises a low-voltage side negative bias circuit connected in parallel to a low-voltage side arm switch 22u. The high-voltage side negative bias circuit generates a negative bias voltage before turning on the low-voltage side arm switch 22u after turning off the high-voltage side arm switch 21u, while the low-voltage side negative bias circuit generates a negative bias voltage before turning on the high-voltage side arm switch 21u after turning off the low-voltage side arm switch 22u.
