PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antenna assembly, a printed wiring board, a printed board, a communication adapter and a portable electronic apparatus which improve the packing density of the entire circuit and miniaturize the printed wiring board while securing characteristics of the antenna (particularly sensitivity). SOLUTION: The antenna assembly comprises a printed wiring board 11, electronic components 14 disposed on the wiring board 11, a shield member (ground member) 13 disposed on the wiring board 11, and antenna elements 12 extending in a direction perpendicular to a specified direction axis X. The shield member has a length of approximately 1/4λor longer along the specified direction axis X whereλis the wavelength of a radio wave used for communication.
