PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for setting a remote control which can control the main functions of control object devices by utilizing user-friendly buttons prepared as hardware buttons. SOLUTION: Control image information for controlling a plurality of control object devices connected to a network and assignment information of a hardware button 16 operated by a user to control the control object devices are respectively downloaded from the control object devices. The downloaded control image information is used to display an control image on a display device 12, and the assignment information is used to assign the main control functions of the control object devices to the plurality of hardware buttons.
