<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase visual angle characteristics, in particular, to increase the visual angle of a TN liquid crystal. <P>SOLUTION: The TN liquid crystal display element has a polymer film aiming to compensate the visual angle disposed between a liquid crystal cell and a polarizing plate. The polymer film is made of a negative optical anisotropic material having the optical axis in the normal direction of the film plane.
