PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark plug in which jointing strength of an electrode member and the tip can be secured steadily and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In a first process S10, a tip 1 made of a flange part 1b and a projected part 1b protruding from one face 1c of a flange part 1b is manufactured. In a second process S20, the other face 1d of the flange part 1b is temporarily tacked by resistance welding to the jointing faces 32, 34 on the discharge gap side of an electrode base material on at least one of the center electrode 30 and the ground electrode 40. In a third process S30, the flange part 1b is welded by laser on the jointing faces 32, 34 so that the fusion part 3 may be located on the inner side of the other face 1d than the crossing point of the virtual extension line of the side face of the projected part 1a and another face 1d of the flange part 1b.
