<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance identification performance in a pattern identifying device for identifying a pattern of an identifying object such as a coin, based on an image of the identifying object acquired by an image pick-up means. <P>SOLUTION: The pattern identifying device is provided with: an illumination means 15 for irradiating with light the identifying object passing through a passage 13; and the image pick-up means 16 for photoreceiving reflected light or transmission light from the identifying object, and identifies the pattern of the identifying object based on the image of the identifying object acquired by the image pick-up means 16. The pattern is accurately identified at a high speed because a rotation angle is detected while thinning out the rotation angle, and the identification performance is enhanced thereby. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
