<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for suppressing failure of increase in overhead due to stacked VLAN tags in multi-stage that has been a problem caused in prior arts and further to provide a system for interconnecting L2 networks whose Ethertypes differ from each other. <P>SOLUTION: The communication between different L2 networks can be attained by swapping (rewriting) an extended VLAN tag in response to a network being a transfer destination of frames, and the same effect of providing a third stage tag to the extended VLAN tag is brought about by swapping (rewriting) a second stage tag of the extended VLAN tag.
