CELLS OVEREXPRESSING LIPOYL-PROTEIN LIGASE B-GENE FOR FERMENTATIVE PRODUCTION OF R-ALPHA-LIPONIC ACID

Cells (A) that secrete enantiomerically enriched R-alpha-lipoic acid (I) into the culture medium and over express the lipB (lipoyl-protein-ligase B) gene, are new. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a plasmid that contains a lipB gene under control of a promoter; (2) method for preparing (A) by introducing the plasmid of (1) into a starting cell; and (3) method for producing enantiomerically enriched (I) by culturing (A).
