PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniaturizable lens protection mechanism and a miniaturizable disk reproducing apparatus while preventing contact of a disk and an optical pickup lens in a simple configuration. SOLUTION: The lens protection mechanism 11 which is provided for protection of the optical pickup lens 176 for projecting/receiving the light to/from the disk 12, is provided with; an energizing means 27 to apply repulsion force to clamp the disk 12 to a clamper 35 on a turntable 20; and a clamp mechanism to attach/detach the clamper 35 to/from the disk 12 by the operation of a driving source 102. Also, a driving control mechanism 210 which makes the driving source 102 operate to release the clamping by raising the clamper 35 to above the turntable 20 when the power source of the disk 12 is changed to another sources/disconnected in reproduction/reproduction standby.
