PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine the necessity of compilation and compile only necessary source programs, thereby sorting out compilers run on all the source programs, and minimizing the time required for compilation operation by which the source programs are translated into computer-executable object programs. SOLUTION: The compilation control method is for controlling a compiler by which source programs are translated into computer-executable object programs for a computer system having a storage device that stores software development tools and another storage device that stores the source programs. The necessity of compilation is determined using information on the update time of a compile information table which retains compiler and operating system information and the update time of a dependent file needed for compiling the source programs.
