PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for measuring TEQ values, which can accurately calculate the TEQ value by using a speedy and simple means. SOLUTION: In the method, a concentration value C1 of 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF being an indicator isomer in an unknown sample is measured, and the concentration value C1 is multiplied by following values. The values are 2.39±1.19 in the case of sampling ashes as the unknown sample, 2.39±1.19 in the case of sampling flying ashes, 1.48±0.74 in the case of sampling incineration ashes, 1.72±0.86 in the case of sampling ambient air, 2.02±1.01 in the case of sampling soil, and 2.40±1.20 in the case of sampling blood. In the case the media are water materials, the concentration value C1 of 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF and a concentration value C2 of 1,2,3,6,7,8-HxCDD are measured, and a simple TEQ value is calculated by using a following expression: [0.5C1+0.1C2]×4.25±2.12. In the case the media are bottom materials, the concentration value C1 of 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF and a concentration value C3 of 1,2,3,4,7,8-HxCDF are measured, and the simple TEQ value is calculated by using a following expression: [0.5C1+0.1C3]×2.74±1.37.
