PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a freezer/refrigerator capable of positively suppressing an unforseen accident such as fire when carrying out operation start action after body installation. SOLUTION: A freezer/refrigerator body 100 is provided with a refrigerating cycle part 30 for cooling a chamber housing objects to be cooled, a hydrocarbon based refrigerant sealed and circulating in an interior of the refrigerating cycle part 30 for carrying out cooling by repeating compression and expansion and absorbing heat of vaporization, refrigerant leakage detecting devices 24 and 26 for detecting leakage of the refrigerant, and a control part 36 for controlling operation of the body. The control part 36 carries out evaluation of leakage by detecting leakage of the refrigerant a predetermined time by the refrigerant leakage detecting devices 24 and 26 prior to operation of the refrigerating cycle part 30 when starting the supply of electric power to the body. When leakage of the refrigerant is acknowledged, the supply of the electric power is cut off. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
