摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for screening a human fragile X syndrome remedy candidate compound, comprising identifying the functions of fmr1 gene in the crisis mechanism of the fragile X syndrome, making the pathologic model animal of the fragile X syndrome on the basis of the obtained findings, and further using the pathogenic animal. SOLUTION: It has been found that the activity rhythm (biological rhythm or biological clock) is abnormalized, when the fmr1 gene of a drosophila is broken or artificially modified. Namely, it has been found that the gene is a molecule playing an important role on the formation of normal biological rhythm. It is estimated that the fact found in the drosophila can basically be applied to human being, because the human being and the drosophila have many common genes without being limited to the formation of the biological rhythm. By the utilization of the drosophila as a pathogenic model animal, the remedy candidates for the fragile X syndrome of the human being can be screened. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
