The bathtub body (1) has a stepped upper edge (2) extending outwards into a horizontal shoulder (3). The shoulder structure includes an upright collar (4) with a U-shaped cross section. A water overflow (5) is in a trough recess at the shoulder, with an overflow opening (6) aligned in parallel with the shoulder. The edge cladding (7) is fitted over the collar, using a carrier (8) with shape stability and a one-piece plastics frame (9) as the upper cladding. The bath cladding is at a gap over the shoulder, so that its under surface (11) forms an open groove (13) to the interior of the tub body, extending over the overflow.
