An automotive clutch and start-up assembly has primary and secondary turbine wheels located within a fluid-filled torus-shaped work chamber. The relationship of the torus-shaped work chamber inner diameter, dp to the outer diameter Dp of the torus-shaped work chamber around the primary turbine wheel, is described by the 0.34 dp/Dp 0.6. The outer diameter Dp of the torus-shaped work chamber around the primary turbine wheel is 180-230 mm.
