<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backup unit which, in the case a vehicle enters an area for regulation of engine drive, achieves reduction of exhaust gas and noise by automatically stopping the engine or decelerating the engine based on the information. <P>SOLUTION: Whether a current vehicle position and time is within the area for regulation of the engine drive and a time zone for regulation of the engine drive or not is determined (step 304), through information on the vehicle position from a navigator 21 and through memory information on the area for regulation of the engine drive and the time zone for regulation of the engine drive memorized at the vehicle ECU13 beforehand, and if so, the engine is stopped (step 318) and returned to a main routine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
