<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element that can contribute to reduce the reflectance of respective interfaces of optical components to be joined within a temperature range required for optical communication and to provide an adhesive which is suitable for the achievement of the purpose. <P>SOLUTION: The optical element is built by bonding and fixing two optical components whose refractive indexes at least in the vicinity of surfaces are substantially equal to the adhesive, and light is made incident from one optical component to the other optical component. The difference in the refractive index of the adhesive and that of at least one optical component is ≤0.02. Further, the adhesive is a fluid composition containing a polymerizable organic group such as an epoxy group and can be polymerized to set by heat and ultraviolet rays, and the glass transition temperature after setting is preferably ≥85°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
