METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY PRODUCING TRUE SIZE RADIOGRAPHIC IMAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing radiographic image at an almost true size to represent individual anatomical features and a reference system used in determining the degree of magnification of a digital radiographic image. SOLUTION: The reference system used in measurement includes: a reference object (101) of predetermined dimensions constituted of radiation attenuating material; a flexible elongated member (102) for mounting the reference object (101); and an adjustable means which is associated with the elongated member (102) and holds the elongated member in place when the elongated member (102) is wrapped around an anatomical part to be radiographically imaged. A method for producing radiographic image at an almost true size to represent individual anatomical features is actualized by the system. The method concretely comprises the steps of: positioning the reference object (101) at a location adjacent to an anatomical structure; producing a digital radiographic image; measuring the size of the digitized reference object and calculating a scale factor; and changing the scale of the digitized radiographic image to the size of true anatomical structure using the result of the former step.
