The polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell has a pair of electrodes between which the electrolyte is enclosed. It has a separator for feed of an oxidizing gas to the electrodes. A separator plate has a front and a rear face with frames attached to them around the fuel gas and oxidizing gas or coolant sealed inlets. The separator plate has holders for a gas inlet and a gas outlet distributor (71,76).
