PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display programming information at present or in future by overlapping the information on ordinary programming which is indicated on an arbitrary channel accessible to the display screen of a viewer in a system which is interactively controlled by a TV viewer remote control transmitter. SOLUTION: A computer accesses identification signal data automatically or in response to a signal from a TV viewer remote control transmitter and generates the identification signal data during a duration specified by the identification signal data. The computer accesses the information signal data in response to a signal from the TV viewer remote control transmitter and generates the information signal data. A signal coupler overlaps an identification signal or an information signal on a signal which comes from a tuner and is available for a viewer of an arbitrary selected channel. The identification signal may include an icon or a text calling attention of the viewer with respect to availability of information data. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
