PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a block raw material for an ultrasonic defect detection test having a defect for simulating a natural defect. SOLUTION: The method manufactures the block raw material for the ultrasonic defect detection test having the defect for simulating the natural defect and artificially created in a base. An ingot is manufactured by loading a metal material forming the base and a defect source as a material having a melting point higher than the metal material into a plasma lamination coagulation furnace and applying a melting process. After a re-melting process is applied to the ingot in a vacuum arc re-melting furnace, the ingot is cooled and a residue of the defect source not melted is formed in the base. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
