FERRULE FOR OPTICAL CONNECTOR AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rigidly and integrally join a ferrule front body to a ferrule rear part. SOLUTION: The ferrule front body 15 has a protrusion part 17 with a swollen part 17a at its tip at a rear face 15b. Resin molding of the ferrule front body 15 is carried out in advance. The ferrule rear part 16 is overmolded at a rear face 15b side of the ferrule front body 15 in a form where the protrusion part 17 is buried in. The ferrule front body 15 is rigidly and integrally joined to the ferrule rear part 16 and there is no fear that the ferrule front body 15 may separate from a ferrule rear part 16 side. The ferrule front body 15 requiring accuracy can be fabricated with high precision in another process. The overmolding process of the ferrule rear part 16 requiring no accuracy is easy, materials are low-priced and the ferrule can be manufactured at a low cost. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
