PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image input apparatus for reading an image of an original without any unevenness by providing an original illuminating device with a function for detecting illumination distribution on an original face with a high precision and line-illuminating the original face without any unevenness. SOLUTION: The image input apparatus is provided with the original illuminating device for irradiating the original face for reading an original image with light. The original illuminating device has an LED array (1) substantially linearly arraying a plurality of LEDs (1t) or an LED group (1u), and a photodiode (1p) or a photodiode group (1q) for receiving light from the original face.
