PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image input device that can read an image of an original without any unevenness by illuminating an original face hardly having unevenness by using an LED array. SOLUTION: The image input device is provided with an original illuminating device (10) irradiating the original face (4S) for reading the image of the original (4) with light. The original illuminating device (10) is provided with the LED array (1) substantially linearly arraying a plurality of LEDs, and an illumination optical system (2) for introducing a light flux emitted from the LED array (1) to the original face (4S). The illumination optical system (2) has the function of diffusing the light flux in an array direction of LEDs, and a function for condensing the light flux in the vertical direction to the array direction of LEDs.
