PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor capable of issuing a control signal accurately to the utmost, even if a characteristic of a gas detection element is changed by long-period use. SOLUTION: This gas sensor 10 is equipped with a G element 1 capable of detecting gas, and control parts 4, 5 for inputting an output signal S(n) outputted from the G element 1, determining gas detection based on the output signal S(n), and issuing a control signal LV. The control parts 4, 5 have a calculation means for calculating a differential value S' based on the output signal S(n) within a fixed time, a determination means for determining deterioration by determining that the G element 1 is deteriorated when the differential value S' does not exceed reference information set beforehand, and a compensation means for raising gas detection sensitivity when deterioration determination exceeds the reference number of deterioration times set beforehand.
