PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone set wherein a hold switch can be operated by one hand and surely operated with respect to the hold switch of the telephone set. SOLUTION: In the telephone set provided with a telephone set body and a handset placed on a cradle of the telephone set body, the cradle is formed with a first recessed part to which a receiver part of the handset is fitted in the case of bringing the handset to an on-hook state, and with a second recessed part in addition to the first recessed part, the hold switch for bringing a speech with an opposite party to a temporary holding state is provided to the second recessed part and fitting the receiver part or a transmitter part of the handset to the second recessed part brings the hold switch to an application state by means of the receiver part or the transmitter part.
