A method for producing a stamper used for producing an optical disc comprises an exposure step of irradiating an organic resist layer (101) formed on a substrate (100) with a recording laser beam modulated with an information signal corresponding to the information signal of an information projection/recess pattern formed on/in an optical disc so as to form an exposure pattern corresponding to the information projection/recess pattern of the optical disc and a development step of developing the organic resist layer so as to form an exposure pattern corresponding to the projection/recess pattern by the organic resist layer. In the exposure step, an evaluation laser beam is applied to a predetermined area of the organic resist layer, a recorded signal characteristic of the exposure pattern by the organic resist layer is evaluated by using the reflected light of the evaluation laser beam, and the power of the recording laser beam is controlled according to the evaluation result. Thus, information is reliably recorded on the object optical disc.
