PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust an inner pressure of an air bag in accordance with parameters, such as physique, position and posture of a seated person, and whether the seated person wears a seat belt. SOLUTION: The air bag 1 is provided with a controllable gas venting means, such as a tube 4, that is usually kept closed by a clamp 5. The clamp 5 is released from a signal from a sensor 6. When an inflating level of the air bag 1 is desired to be soft, an appropriate amount of gas is vented from the air bag 1 at a relatively high rate by releasing the clamp 5. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
