PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a movable body capable of reducing costs. SOLUTION: Reduction detected bodies 28a, 28b are provided at both ends of a travel rail 1, respectively, and a distance measuring device is provided on a travelling vehicle body 2 for measuring a travel distance between a travel reduction detector for detecting the reduction detected bodies and the travelling vehicle body 2. The moving direction of the travelling vehicle body 2 is determined in accordance with a change in the travel distance of the travelling vehicle body 2 to be measured by the distance measuring device, and the moving speed to the determined moving direction is reduced during a time when the reduction detector detects the reduction detected bodies and the travel of the travelling vehicle body 2 is stopped when it cannot detect the reduction detected bodies. In this construction, only one reduction detector allows normal speed reduction and no need for detected plates at fixed positions HP, OP is eliminated by stopping the movement of the travelling vehicle body 2 when it cannot detect the reduction detected bodies 28a, 28b, resulting in a reduction in cost.
