The invention relates to an amplitude- and frequency- or phase-modulated radio frequency signal generator (G) that is used for radio emission, comprising: means for generating (GEN) a phase or frequency control signal (D) and an amplitude control signal (F) from a phase or frequency modulation signal (B) and an amplitude modulation signal (C); phase or frequency modulation means (MOD); and a variable-gain radio frequency power amplifier (PA). Said generation means (GEN) comprise means for automatically controlling the amplitude of the output signal (G), and, in addition, adaptive pre-distortion means (40) which are arranged in order to pre-distort the phase or frequency control signal (D) in accordance with the amplitude modulation signal (C) during a permanent operating phase and, during a learning phase, to be adapted from the amplitude modulation signal (C) and from the amplitude control signal (F).
