<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance identification performance in a pattern identifying device for identifying a pattern of an identifying object such as a coin, based on an image of the identifying object acquired by an image pick-up means. <P>SOLUTION: The image pick-up means 16 comprises an image sensor 26 provided with: an array of photoreceiving elements arranged matrix-likely; a control circuit 68 for supplying a voltage for sensitivity control to lines of the array; and a neural network 69 for processing a current flowing from columns of the array to the ground. Computation for the sum of products of a filter matrix and the image is executed in the image sensor 26 thereby. Thus, the pattern is accurately discriminated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
