<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store health insurance card information about each patient, and to enable reference to the health insurance card information after authentication of the patient. <P>SOLUTION: Patient information comprising a name, an address of each the patient, a patient number assigned to the patient, or the like, and various kinds of information such as the health insurance card information or fingerprint authentication information about the patient are correlatively previously recorded in a record medium 2. A fingerprint authentication device 3 reads an image of a patient's fingerprint, and supplies the image to a fingerprint authentication system 4. The fingerprint authentication system 4 authenticates whether the fingerprint read by the fingerprint authentication device 3 is a fingerprint of the patient oneself or not on the basis of the patient's fingerprint authentication information, and supplies an authentication result to an information terminal 1.
