PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an emulsion polymer in a high purity and a good product quality, in an environment-maintaining way and economically. SOLUTION: This method for producing the emulsion polymer is provided by performing the emulsion polymerization in the presence of a fatty acid salt and/or a resin acid salt to obtain the emulsion polymer by usual method, treating latex separated from un-reacted monomers with an acid within≥6pH range, adding a precipitation agent as required to adjust the pH of the obtained polymer suspension so as to become≥11, removing the obtained polymer from the suspension and then shearing until it becomes to have≤20% water content.
