Spray-dried xylitol and process for its production

Spray-dried xylitol (A) of xylitol (I) content at least 98wt.% consists of individual (I) particles that have an irregular, fissured surface and exists as free-flowing powder of water content 0.2-1% and particle size distribution 0.1-0.8 mm, within the spray tower. The powder collected from the tower has bulk density (DIN ISO3944) below 0.65 kg/l; dissolution time below 10 s; flow time below 12 s/100 ml and angle of repose below 33degrees. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) method for preparing (A); and (2) binder-free compressed objects made of (A), of water content below 0.5%.
