The apparatus has a radiation source (11). This emits a first beam (16) which excites the carrier (15) such that it emits a second beam (17) which contains at least a partial image of the stored information. The apparatus also has a receiver (12) which receives, point-wise, the second beam emitted from the carrier (15). The receiver (12) has several point elements. The second beam emitted by the carrier can be simultaneously received by several of these point elements. Independent claims also cover an x-ray cassette for containing and defining a phosphor carrier.
