The gripper system has a hollow profile (1) receiving a gripper shaft (7) for a gripper (8) cooperating with a gripper stop (10), a traverse (5) spaced from the hoolow profile for defining a flow channel (3) for generation of an air stream assisting the sheet feed upon movement of the gripper system. The air stream can be angled at between 35 and 45 degrees to the sheet feed path.
