A defoaming formulation containing:(A) an antifoaming agent based on siloxanes and (B) a branched polyether/polysiloxane copolymer is new. A defoaming formulation containing:(A) an antifoaming agent based on siloxanes and (B) a branched polyether/polsiloxane copolymer containing structural elements of formula (I)(structure I, page 15): Y = 3-to 5-valent, preferably 3- to 4-valent hydrocarbon with one or more hetero atoms which can be selected from N-, O-, and Si, R = monovalent, optionally halogenated 1-18C hydrocarbon, A = residue of formula (II)(structure II, page 15)R2 = divalent 2-30C hydrocarbon which can be interrupted by one or more O atoms separated from each other, G = monovalent residue of formula IIa(structure IIa, page 15) or a divalent residue of formula IIb(structure IIb, page 15):Z = residue of formula (III)(structure III, page 15):R3 = H, 1-18C hydrocarbon, or residue of formula R-C(O)- (where R = as above), R6 = divalent 1-10C hydrocarbon, v =-1, a, b, and c = 0 or 1-1000, with the proviso that (a+b+c) = 2-2000, x = 3-10, f = 2-12, k = 0-1, n = 2-12, m = at le ast 1, p =0 or a positive number, with the proviso that copolymer B contains at least one Z group. Independent claims are included for: preparation of B in which in a first step a compound I having at least 3 aliphatic double bonds and of formula (IV)(structure IV, page 15) Y and x = as above, R1 = H or 1-10C alkyl are reacted with organopolysiloxane (2) of formula (V):(structure V, page 15), A, R, m and p = as above, in the presence of added Si-bonded H by way of multiple bond promoting catalysts (3)(sic),i.e. a so-called hydrosilation catalyst, and in a second step, the Si-bonded H atom containing branched intermediate product (5) obtained is reacted with organic compounds (4) of formula (VI)(structure VI, page 16):k = o, H2C=CR4-Z(4a), R4 and R5 = R1, f, k, and Z = as above, in the presence of added Si-bonded H by way of multiple bond promoting catalysts (3)(sic). ;a process in which the copolymer B is emulsified with antifoaming agent A, or copolymer B , after preparation of an emulsion of antifoaming agent A, is added directly or in the form of an emulsion.
