The sintered cutting plaque for a machine tool has a cutting zone (24) at each end with a cutting edge (30) to cut work material. A fixing zone (32) in the center of the plaque is used for mounting the plaque. Between these zones is an intermediate zone (38) with a groove (40) extending parallel to the cutting edge to allow fracture of the plaque if an excess load is applied. Claims include a cutting tool using the plaque.
