METHOD FOR MANAGING DEFECTS OF DISC DRIVE, RECORDING MEDIA THEREFOR AND DISC DRIVE THEREFOR

PURPOSE: A method for managing defects of disc drive, a recording media therefor and a disc drive therefor are provided to largely shorten a time for a defect detecting process by performing no defect detecting process for a defect area because the defect area of a known position is previously processed on a zone map. CONSTITUTION: A spindle motor rotates a disc(12). A head(16) writes information to the disc and reads the information from the disc. A VCM(Voice Coil Motor) moves the head. A controller(42) fixes a data area of each zone on the disc by controlling the VCM and allots a separated data zone for the tracks around the tracks of the known defect position. The controller processes the data zone allotted to the tracks around the tracks of the known defect position as the defect.
