MULTI-PROTOCOL LABEL SWITCHING APPARATUS OF DISTRIBUTED FE STRUCTURE AND METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A multi-protocol label switching apparatus of a distributed FE(Forward Engine) structure and a method thereof are provided to prevent waste of switch resources by enabling inputted traffic to reach a destination by passing through a switch one time. CONSTITUTION: An MIM(MPLS Interface Module)(210) includes FEs, to which packets are inputted or outputted therefrom and are distributively mounted in the MIM. An MSC(MPLS Service Controller)(220) allocates configuration information and VPI(Virtual Path Identifier) among FEs, and stores and manages corresponding information. A switch fabric(230) is used when packets are switched to a specific FE in a router.
