PURPOSE: A data transmitting/receiving apparatus using a HomePNA(Phoneline Networking Alliance) method is provided to be built in a user terminal to construct a high speed premise network. CONSTITUTION: A transmission requesting unit(20) receives a PCMCIA data transmission request signal from a user terminal(10) and generates a DMA(Direct Memory Access) operation control signal. A transmission data reading unit(21) reads ETD(Ethernet Transmission Data) from a host memory of the user terminal(10), transfers it to a transmission buffer controller, and generates a buffer control signal. A transmission MAC(Media Access Controller)(24) converts the ETD into MII(Media Independent Interface) transmission data, senses the carrier of a terminal which is different the user terminal, and initiates transmission of the MII transmission data if there is no carrier. A HomePNA transmission processor(25) receives the MII transmission data, converts it into HomePNA 2.0 physical layer data, modulates the physical layer data according to a certain method, converts it into an analog signal, and then transmits the analog signal to a premise telephone line.
