PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for detecting a flow rate of fluid are provided to precisely detect the flow rate of fluid by precisely detecting rotation of a rotator in a flow meter using a sensor. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for detecting a flow rate of fluid includes a power section(110), a sensor(120), a sensor coil(130), a sensor driving circuit(140) and a main control unit(150). The sensor(120) is attached to a rotator so as to detect an R.P.M of the rotator. The sensor coil(130) detects the sensor(120) when the sensor(120) reaches the sensor coil(130). The senor driving circuit(140) excites a critical oscillation by using the sensor coil(130). The main control unit(150) applies an impulse signal to the sensor driving circuit(140) so as to control the critical oscillation.
