PURPOSE: An embedded extension alarm system for monitoring and controlling a ship and a controlling method thereof are provided to generate and transmit rapidly an alarm signal by using one CPU for controlling a dual communication(User Datagram Protocol) operation. CONSTITUTION: An embedded extension alarm system for monitoring and controlling a ship includes a main CPU, a DIP switch, an SRAM, a flash ROM, a display unit, a data bus, a main and a reserve ethernet controller, a plurality of pulse transformers, and a plurality of connectors. The main CPU(102) performs a dual UDP communication operation. The DIP switch(104) is connected to the main CPU in order to decide an ID of the embedded extension alarm system. The SRAM(106) is used for storing variables. The flash ROM(108) is used for storing main program codes. The display unit(110) stores the various information of the embedded extension alarm system. The data bus(112) is used for transmitting data. The main and the reserve ethernet controllers(114,114') are used for performing communication operations of physical layers. The pulse transformers(116,116') are used for receiving or transmitting communication signals of the main and the reserve ethernet controllers from or to an external LAN. The connectors(118,118') are used for forming a communication line between a board and the external LAN.
