CHANNEL EQUALIZING METHOD AND CHANNEL EQUALIZER

PURPOSE: A channel equalizing method and a channel equalizer are provided to reduce the quantity of calculations and power consumption of the channel equalizer. CONSTITUTION: A received data sequence is filtered(410). An optimum coefficient is induced using a training sequence transmitted in connection with the currently filtered data sequence and a training sequence previously known to a receiver(420). The coefficient is updated using the optimum coefficient, Kalman gain and an error between the transmitted training signal and the previously known training signal(430). A predetermined threshold is compared to the updated coefficient and filter cells to be updated are selected according to the compared result(440). Filter cells having coefficients smaller than the threshold are designated to 0 and the other filter cells are selected to reduce the number of filter cells to be updated.
